I’m afraid I reached page 120 and gave up, the book just isn’t going anywhere.
I found this book quite frustrating in the way it went backwards and forwards in time. Additionally, while the characters were engaging it was unfathomable to me how the circumstances around’the disappearance’ were never revealed by Tikka and Laura. I have no idea what Mr Avery was up to…especially the strange encounter Tikka had with him during the search. I also felt let down by the ending.
I enjoyed Tikka’s naive observations and felt forewarned about the ending by the “picnic at hanging rock” comparison. Indeed felt it gave more than I expected. Wonderful descriptions of the suburb and lifestyle. Would definitely read another by this author. Thanks
Thought it terrific, funny sad and somewhat sinister too.
