Some. But the future uncertain despite the apparent happy ending

Most of the questions were answered. Some were far too simple to be believable. I also find it hard to believe that someone can do prison time without their true identity coming to light. It still makes me angry that the truth of many stories, is lost by media grandstanding and clever journalism.

I prefer the author to give the reader enough information during the course of the book to work everything out for themselves. This makes this wrap-up at the end less important. I have been known to go back and reread sections of a book just to get enough facts to solve a mystery. With “Scrublands”, I would have been left hanging and disappointed without the wrap-up, but I feel most of the questions have been answered.

The books final chapter was endearing to the characters of Mandy and Martin. All the questions about why Riversend had so many unfortunate incidents where answered. I initially liked the character of Harley Snouch but did realise he was not a good person along the way in the book
