Did you like the character of Klara, and did the fact that she is an Artificial Friend change how you connected with her?

I think because she was an AF and learning everything, I connected with Klara more. In a way I felt like I wanted to protect her like you would with a child or innocent creature.
I thought she was lovely.

Yes, I liked her, and felt protective of her too, as I felt she was open to misuse at times. I was very disappointed with her ending, even though she seemed content. Discarded after such loyalty.

The “character” of Klara was non-human as she was a machine however I feel that she and her responses and behaviours were made to resemble those displayed by most of the oppressed majority in the world today. Note how similar in fact her responses were to those of Rick – always and almost automatically polite and avoidant of confrontation (which they sense they have no hope of winning). It was an interesting comment on what happens to human character in situations where most control is removed from them. I think of Klara as like a mannequin in a shop window, but actually a robot. I find it hard to connect with her rather than treat her as a toy. However, she seems intelligent and sensitive.

Klara was likeable and I grew fond of her. She had traits that were easy to associate with growth, behaviour and learning which made her feel more real.
